Merry Christmas and a Happy New-year from Japan

charliebrownchristmas The weather has been weird all December. It started out being really cold, to the point that it should have snowed here. But once Christmas rolled around, the temperatures here warmed up back to what we’d expect in November. I don’t think we’ll see snow in the city this year.
I missed out on another Christmas back in the US again but I think I had good reason to miss it this year. I am now engaged to marry and I spent the money I would have used toward airline tickets and put it into Yuko’s ring instead. I’m not going to make an engagement post, as most of you have already been sent pictures of the ring and emails. Plus Yuko isn’t into having her picture put on my blog.
kfc-barrel I ended up spending my Christmas in my festively decorated room this year. This year I let Yuko decide how we’d spend our Christmas and she decided she wanted it Japanese style. So we ate fried Chicken, sushi rolls, mashed potatoes, and Christmas cake. Japanese style usually means getting a box or bucket of overpriced Chicken from KFC and an equally small, overpriced white cake. It was all delicious, but I still prefer the American way of doing things.
DSC00001This year I got a few different things for Christmas. From my mom I  got Mythbusters Season 1, Dirty Jobs Season 4, and Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection game for Xbox 360. Yuko gave me a brand new Wii and I got an unexpected present in the mail from Monica, The Mummy DVD. It was a pretty good Christmas as far as presents went.
vlcsnap2010010212h45m03 For new year’s celebrations we spent it at my apartment and watched Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!! 24hr Special on TV. This tie it was another “batsu” game where if any of the participants laughed they would have punishments that usually included Thai Kicks and smacks on the butt. I love Gaki no Tsukai when they have batsu games. I wish they did it more often. This year’s show had it’s fun points but it didn’t feel as solid as previous shows.
So that’s it for 2009 I guess. 2009 went by a lot faster than I expected. Soon it will be my birthday again and I’ll be even one more step closer to hitting 30 years old. I wish I could turn back the clock a few years and go back to 23 or something. I hope 2010 turns out to be a really good year and that I get a lot of stuff done and a lot of forward progress in my search for a better quality of life.
